The traditional culture of coffee has decided that ceramics are still used as coffee cups. For a while, porcelain cups must be used for drinking coffee, 

however recently the choice of coffee cups has become more and more free. More people choose porcelain cups or glass cups according to their needs.

The material selection of coffee cups is a science knowledge we need to know well.

How to choose a coffee cup?

Drinking the same coffee, you will feel different sourness and bitterness due to the shape and material of the coffee cup. 

There are 3 important points to know when choosing a coffee cup.

1. The color of the inside wall of the coffee cup.

Vision has a great influence on the taste experience. 

If you choose a ceramic coffee cup or a colored cup inside, it will be difficult to distinguish the color during extraction, and the judgment of the shade is easy to be distorted.

 If you want to appreciate the amber color of the coffee while drinking it, it is recommended to choose a porcelain coffee cup with a white inside.

2. The width of the coffee cup body

 The structure of the human tongue and its function is different. The sweetness is felt on the tip of the tongue, and sourness and bitterness are tasted on the side and root of the tongue respectively. 

Thus, a  coffee cup with a wide body can fill the mouth with coffee, especially suitable for coffee with a strong sour taste. On the other hand, a slender coffee cup will make the coffee rush directly to the throat, 

and it is easy to feel bitter when drinking, such as a large paper cup.

3. The thickness of the cup rim 

The ceramic cups we use are generally thicker than the glass cups. In terms of thermal insulation performance, bone chine cups are better than glass cups in terms of heat preservation and heat collection. And the heat insulation to the double -wall glass cups 

 is better than a single-layer glass cup. Usually, we use bone china cups to drink single-origin coffee. The thinner the rim of the bone china cup, the less it will disturb the tasting feeling of the coffee.

When drinking cold drinks, such as iced coffee or iced mocha, we suggest glass cups.

What kind of cup is suitable for drinking coffee?

Latte Cup: A porcelain coffee cup in the shape of a bowl. Born in France, it is a coffee cup for dipping bread into a latte.

Standard coffee cup: a common coffee cup in Western restaurants, suitable for black coffee.

Coffee mug

It is a common and easy-to-use large cup whether it is at home or in the office, and it can be used for anything. The barrel-shaped cup body is most helpful when you want to taste the bitterness of coffee.

Breakfast Cup: A circle larger than a standard cup, whether you want to drink a weaker Americano or a larger cup of latte, it is very suitable.

Volume: 200cc~250cc

Demitasse Cup:

A special cup for espresso, demi means "half" in Latin, and tasse means "cup". It is the most suitable cup when you want to taste strong espresso.

Double espresso cup

 The cup size is between a demi and a standard cup and is reserved for double espressos.

Volume:80 ～ 100cc

Porcelain cups are still commonly used for single-origin coffee to interpret the delicate aroma of coffee.
